HED Delivers Message at 13th General Conference of the Association of African Universities

The 13th General Conference of the Association of African Universities (AAU) opened in Libreville, Gabon on May 28, 2013. The theme of the conference is "Transforming African Higher Education for Graduate Employability and Socioeconomic Development." The general conference is held every four years and brings together higher education researchers, academics, policy makers and development partners. This year's conference is attended by more than 300 participants including representatives from HED, which are Executive Director Tully Cornick, PhD; and Africa Officer Teshome Alemneh, PhD.

The meeting was opened by a message from the President of Gabon delivered by Dr. Seraphin Madouga, Gabon's Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, Youth and Sports. 

Cornick, in his goodwill message during the opening session, reaffirmed HED's commitment to strengthen the collaboration with AAU and its member institutions to address development challenges in Africa.
